A Beginner's Guide to Understanding How AI is Already Part of Our Daily Routines

Welcome to The Tech You Need… Simplified! 💻
“AI” was definitely the buzz word in the tech space for 2023, but the concept of AI isn’t new at all. In this week’s newsletter we’ll go over how AI has been apart of our daily routine for years now.

AI in the Home 🏡
There’s not a day that goes by without me saying “Hey, Google”. Google and other smart home assistants have been around for quite some time and have proven to be very useful around the house for settings timers, controlling the music, or smart lights.
AI in Entertainment 🍿
After you wrapped up “Wednesday” on Netflix, the next show that popped up? That's Netflix tailoring suggestions just for you, based on all the stuff you've loved watching before, thanks AI. Same goes for the song that plays next in your Spotify rotation. AI algorithms are complex but play a huge role in these applications without us even knowing.
AI in Transportation 🚙
How did google know that it would take you 15 minutes to get to work today? You guessed it, AI. Once again advanced AI analytics are a part of your favorite navigation apps and is crucial in optimizing routes and predicting how long you’ll be in traffic on your commute. Your favorite ride sharing apps use this technology as well to predict how much a trip will cost or by selecting the closest available driver.
Privacy ⛔️
To make the most of these applications in your daily life, continue embracing them and trying out new features. If at any point you’re not comfortable with anything that’s being presented, feel free to disable the feature or find another application that better fits your needs. Keep in mind that these applications are collecting data every time you use them; they essentially learn from you and in turn this is how they can make their predictions.

That concludes this week’s newsletter. Thank you for reading. Next week we’re going to get into The future of work with AI.
